Am vazut stirea la TV. Spuneau ca semnalul de distress a fost dat prin strigate repetate la cei de pe mal, care au alertat mai departe.

I did check the area on the electronic chart before putting my head down for a rest after a very long day negotiating the tropical storm, and what I saw was depths of 42 and 80m indicated. There is a very good article posted here which highlights some of the zooming problem in the vectorised charts that we used.
I can assure you that before every leg we diligently look at our route before we leave and I use both Google Earth, paper charts and other tools. However, our planned route changed just before we left, and with the focus on the start and the tricky conditions, I erroneously thought I would have enough information with me to look at the changes in our route as we went along. I was wrong. I am not trying to make any excuses – just trying to offer up some form of explanation and answer to some of your questions.

Tocmai ce l-am descopertit in actiune transatlantica si nu pe orice barca ci pe un MOD70, ditamai trimaranul de curse. Barca mult mai rapida decat cea de la VOR; acum sa vedem ce-i poate pielea aici si cat a invatat din patania anului trecut. Bafta maxima!

MOB cu final tragic in Clipper Round The World.
La 35 nd victima era nelegata in cocpit, a luat-o un val peste bord si a durat o ora si un sfert pana au recuperat-o!

Acum, ca a fost neasigurata, am vazut pe multi practicand asta in filmuletele din curse. Iar vantul de 35-40 nd nu e deloc o chestie extrema.skipper scrie:MOB cu final tragic in Clipper Round The World.

Cauza decesului neelucidata inca.
Eu o banuiesc a fi viteza pe care o prind barcile astea, in vant de 35-40 nd.
Un soc dat de caderea la o viteza de peste 25 nd, din barca, poate da inconstienta de cateva minute cat sa duca la inec.
Pacat de o viata curmata astfel.

Probabil că va rămâne neelucidată deoarece va fi "îngropată" în mare. În mod normal vesta ar fi trebuit să o ţină cu gura deasupra apei că de aia e vestă de salvare. La vară le testez pe ale mele dar la mal!

Chiar cu vesta pe ea putea muri inecata de la valuri daca nu avea sprayhood la vesta sau daca era inconstienta in apa de la vreo lovitura! Sau cine stie ce-o fi avut! Dumnezeu s-o ierte si pe noi sa ne pazeasca!
Si da, deja au "ingropat-o" in mare!
